What makes a boarding school different from a normal school? The answer is simple: when you are in boarding school you stay in there instead of going home. You spent the night there. This is something everyone knows. But what not everybody knows is that when you are in boarding school you make a lot of friends. You live together with you friends which makes the friendship even more intense.
You are a lot closer to your teachers and the staff of the institution. It almost feels like you are one big happy family. If boarding students have any problem, school related or personal, they can always go to one of the teachers or someone of the staff because they will be glad to be able to help. That is why they are there off course.
The life in a girl boarding school or a boy boarding school differs a lot from the life in a mixed one. Studies have shown that the social life and academic results from students in a single sex boarding school are much better than those of a mixed one.
One of the reasons for this is that there is less pressure in the classes and the children can concentrate much better when they are in separated classes. But in mixed one the classes are mixed. The boarding life of the separate schools also differs from the activities they are doing. Students from a mixed school get involved in all activities, whether these are particularly for boys or particularly for girls.
The life in boarding school for troubled teens differs from all the other boarding schools. Life in these schools are often much stricter because of the rules the students have to obey. These schools have these strict rules to teach troubled teens respect. Sometimes troubled teen's are special military schools. In these schools the students will be taught how to work in team, have discipline and leadership. Also the catholic rules are stricter. Here the staff tries to teach them the way of living according the rules of the catholic religion.
Although some specialized boarding schools have some different rules and a different way of learning, the life of the schools is basically the same. Students attend classes, eat together, and sleep in dorms where they normally have to share their room with another student of the institution.
Boarding school is a great experience and the values you will learn there will help you further in the rest of your life.
